How Invisalign® Does Its Magic

The easy-peasy way to get a straighter smile.

The magic of how Invisalign® works lies in its technology. First, with the help of our team, we take detailed scans of your teeth. Then, we use these scans to create a 3D model of your mouth. This model helps us design a series of clear aligners that will move your teeth step-by-step into their ideal positions.

You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks, as directed by Dr. Sherman.Click to open this link in this tab Each set is designed to make tiny adjustments, gradually leading to a beautifully straight smile. This process is comfortable, and since the aligners are clear, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.

Invisalign® FAQS

Your burning questions, answered with a smile.
  • DOES INVISALIGN® HURT?

One of the most frequently asked questions is whether Invisalign® hurts. If you’ve been curious about this, here’s some good news: although some occasional soreness is normal, clear aligner treatment is generally not painful. There are no metal brackets and wires, and the trays are custom-made for you, reducing the chances of discomfort. If you do experience any discomfort from your teeth moving, you can relieve it with simple measures like sipping cool water, eating soft foods, and taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.

  • CAN YOU EAT WITH INVISALIGN®?

Unlike traditional braces, which come with dietary restrictions such as avoiding crunchy foods, Invisalign® allows you to enjoy all your favorite foods because the aligners are removable! However, if you have many attachments, you should be cautious with foods like whole apples, carrot sticks, and celery, as their crunchy texture might dislodge an attachment. Additionally, we advise being mindful of foods high in added sugar, as they can lead to tooth decay.

  • HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN® TAKE?

In most cases, Invisalign® treatment is completed in 12 to 18 months. However, the duration can vary depending on the individual. For example, if you have a minor case of malocclusion and consistently wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, you might finish in as little as six months. Conversely, if your teeth are severely crowded and you frequently fail to meet the recommended wear time, it could take more than a year and a half to achieve the desired results.

  • WHAT HAPPENS AFTER INVISALIGN®?

During Invisalign® treatment, our primary goal is to move your teeth into their proper alignment gently and safely. Once this is achieved, the focus shifts to maintaining their position. Since about 50% of patients experience orthodontic relapse after braces, we aim to prevent this from happening to you. We will provide you with a custom-made retainer, advise you on how and when to wear it, and explain how to keep it in excellent condition over the years.
